Deaconesses

To be considered for the office of Deaconess, a woman must be a member of the church for at least one year and lead an exemplary Christian life. Titus 2:3; 1Tim 3:11; Rom.16:1

The duties of a Deaconess are to cooperate with the Pastor(s) and Deacons in all matters pertaining to the welfare and spiritual development of the women and girls of the church being especially concerned with:

  • Visiting members of the church
  • Caring for the sick, needy, grieving and distressed members
  • Preparing the elements of the Lord's supper
  • Preparing the women and girls for baptism
  • Providing and caring for baptismal robes
  • Supervising the nursery
  • Serving as a social committee
  • Arranging for the hospitality of church guests
  • Maintaing an attitude of watchfulness by prayer, leading the women of the church into a deeper spiritual walk with the Lord
  • Preparing and submitting a report for the Annual Business
